Romeo and Fat Juliet

爸沒好氣的答:「Romeo(爸的英文名)。」

To some extent, what James Tien and Donald Tsang said marked the start of our real debate on the constitutional development

------------------------

Donald Tsang: It can, it can, if we go to the extreme, people go to the extreme, and you have a cultural revolution, for instance, in China. When people take everything into their hands, then you cannot govern the place. And eh, the similar thing is...for instance...

Host: But Cultural Revolution wasn't really an extreme example of democracy.

Donald Tsang: What is it? People taking power into their own hands! Now, this is what it means by democracy, if you take it to the full swing. In other democracies, even if you have an elected person, then you overturn the policy in California, for instance, you have initiative number, number, number what, then you overturn policy taken by the government, that's not necessarily conducive to efficient government.

-明報

------------------------

Don't ask me WHY, you definitely see the need yourself.

Or, I say, BRAVO Donald, you have rightly achieved the purpose of putting 'Democracy' back on the public's agenda. If that's what you wish.

"Annual" Summer Trip Day 1 : Doha Airport

airport

10 Things to do when you have 9 hrs waiting for your next transfer flight:

1. Best being cheated, or mis-located to a queue which you didn't belong and waited for an hr, then found out you were not provided any accomodation, and that was something you have expected before being told to queue. This was the worst thing in the world when it seemed you was granted a bed at 4 in the morning (HKG time) and found out it was a false hope at last.

2. To take revenge at the Doha International Airport Management, which is using its WiFi services for free without prior 'authorization' or not being its 'valued customer'.

3. To go around the airport and check what products are cheaper than in HK, and make a comparative price list.

4. Visit their toilets and restaurants and check the boarding info twice per hour knowing that your flight info will never be up that soon and you night shall never end that soon as well.

5. Checking around to see if there are handsome guys. (Current observation: unlikely)

6. Learn arabic and forget it in several hours' time

7. Watch YouTube & RTHK programme

8. Taking snapshots here and there and found out you aren't talented at all in photography

9. Write blog as it seems the most natural thing to do in a sleepless night

10. Sleep. Otherwise I will look crap on the first day of my trip

I know it wasn't a funny entry, and it wasn't funny to wait at an airport for 9 hrs or so as well. *sob*

So my dearest, don't dream of dreaming on.

Dual-process

Mind being engaged in something far beyond my reach. I sort of quit working this morning, and solely focusing on 'extracurricular' reading. The 'Live Earth' concert has drawn particular high attention from all over the world, and people start arguing what are the imminent problems we should devote our effort in FIRST before anything. Critics are shouting (see sp!ked) that Al Gore is way too loud for his campaign and is now raising as a global hero, and they demand public's focus to spare to problems like AIDs, Malaria, Education in the Developing Counties and Vaccines, as solving these problems could save the humankind NOW instead of waiting over a century for the temperature to drop 1 degree. They argue that Al is overstressing on a problem and blindfolding other issues of the same weight. For Christ's sake, I understand priority setting is the paramount of success under limited resources, yet why can't humankind 'dual-process' issues when a computer can do that with ease? To me, raising awareness for Global Warming is important for us to act 'a little bit green', otherwise, we'd just sit back and relax and nothing will happen even of the sea level raise over 1 meter in Amsterdam, and windstorm washes the shores of the US. It's humankind's ability to anticipate upcoming problems which makes us the most 'advanced' (?) civilization 'on earth'? So we are just trying to stop a bigger problem that might happen in the future before it's too late. Plus, we cannot stop malaria at individual level (except doing donation I suppose? Or scientific research?), while being green is what we could do to stop doing harm. Of course, at the same time, you may want to take a look at other campaigns ongoing:

Malaria Foundation International

Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation

We need balanced views, and a diverisified mind to tackle problems around us.

*Sigh* So, finger crossed, and God blessed.
